Often referred to as
the Irish Riviera, Spring Lake has long been considered one of the finest
addresses at the Jersey Shore. The town was named after a picturesque spring-fed lake in
the center of town.
The Borough of Spring Lake is located on the southern coast of
Monmouth County and has a land area of 1.30 square miles. It is bounded on the north by
Lake Como; on the west by the Railroad; on the south by Wreck Pond and on the east by the
Atlantic Ocean.
Spring Lake became known as a Victorian resort community with its many
grand waterfront hotels and homes, some of which serve as "bed and breakfasts"
today. The Borough, host to some of the finest seaside architecture in New Jersey, is
still a popular summer destination, with 2 miles of boardwalk and ornate pavilions. The
H.W. Mountz Grammar School serves students K-8. High school students attend Manasquan High
School, less than 2 miles away.
